This is my 2D Shooter Project. What you see now is just a work in progress. There's still plenty to be done for the final release. At the moment, these are my proposed modifications that I have in mind:

1) Add power ups.

I want to add powerups that will speed up how quick the player is able to shoot at the enemy. I wish to add another powerup that will give the player a barrier (if possible) to protect them that can be taken down if shot at a specific number of times. The last type of powerup that I thought about was a multiplier. What I mean is that the powerup will allow the player to shoot in multiple directions instead of just straight.

2) Add boss battles.

I'm thinking of possibly just adding mini boss battles for a certain amount of levels. Then when the player reaches the final level, that is when they will face off against the final boss of the game. I will either create a boss myself, or figure out something. Same for the mini bosses. They will most likely be bigger than the normal enemies, while the final boss will be huge. It will take a large number of shots in order to take them down.

3) Display the amount of lives in the corner.

Of course the player should know how many lives they're working with. It wouldn't be fair for them to just go in blind and not know where they stand in the number of lives they have. This would most likely help them worry less or cause them to focus more in order to not lose their last life. I may also make it so that when the player obtains a certain number of points, they get a life back.

4) Add an enemy spawner. 

This is pretty self explanatory. Though I will say that I am thinking that the higher the level the player goes, the more enemies that are spawned within that level until the reach the mini boss. The final boss will just be its own thing.

5) Add extra levels.

This pretty much plays into the boss battles modification that will be added. I'm still trying to determine the amount of levels to be added. It will possibly be 3-5 or 3-6. That will be determined as the project is worked on.

6) I will also include instructions in the "Instructions" label on the main menu. For now, the controls involve:

W or Up Arrow Key - Move Up

A or Left Arrow Key - Move Left

S or Down Arrow Key - Move Down

D or Right Arrow Key - Move Right

Esc Button - Pause/Un-Pause

Spacebar - Shoot Projectiles

Mouse - Turn in Certain Direction

I am also planning to change the design for the levels as they go on.

Overall, I'm thinking of going in a sort of story for this game where the player must defeat the overlord and its 4-5 or 3-4 generals. Like I said, however, I won't guarantee it, but this is what I have in mind.

Wow, this sounds very ambitious! These sound like they'll be significant modifications, can't wait to see the finished product.
